The image depicts two groups of individuals in an interior setting. On the left side, a standing male figure is visible from the waist up, shown in profile. He appears to be gesturing with both hands raised. He has a prominent nose, a receding hairline, and slicked-back dark hair, wearing a dark jacket, a collared shirt, and a cravat or tie. To the right, there is a line of people mostly shown from the waist up, seated on a bench and looking towards the standing figure. These seated individuals are wearing matching garments, possibly robes, with distinctive conical hats. The background is dark, focusing the attention on the figures in the foreground. The scene is surrounded by handwritten text framing the bottom.
