This is a drawing of an elderly man reclining and gazing upwards towards a celestial figure. The man rests on a pile of books and is draped in a cloth. Surrounding him are objects like a skull, a lion's head carving, and more books. Above him, on a cloud, is an angelic figure with wings and a trumpet. The image has a contemplative tone as the earthly and ethereal elements interact in a classical composition.
