Artist, German, 1503 - 1553

The image shows an elevated view of a winding river flowing from the lower right to the middle left. In the background are distant hills with scattered buildings, including a castle-like structure. On both sides of the river are groups of houses and a fenced path. A wooden bridge crosses the river from right to left. Trees line the scene, some with bare branches and others with detailed foliage. Fine lines are used for textures and depth, with darker strokes for shadows. The monochrome palette focuses on the detailed line work against light areas in the sky and river.
