The image shows the upper half of a woman sitting at a table. She has light skin and her facial features include gentle eyes and a hint of a smile. Her hair is styled neatly and mostly covered by a large hat with dark ribbons and embellishments. She is wearing a high-necked garment with a white collar and dark overlayer, with a string of pearls around her neck. In her hands, she holds a small bouquet of purple flowers and a piece of bread, with two white cups on the table in front of her. The table is decorated with a tablecloth, flowers, and food items. The background is blurred, suggesting an outdoor setting with trees and natural light.

Remarks

Several Autochromes of Frank Eugene seated at the same table were probably made at the same time: Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, New Haven (YCAL MSS 85, box 130, folder 2527); The Art Institute of Chicago (1952.311), and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (1955.635.18). Stieglitz also exhibited an Autochrome of Mr. F. Eugene and Miss Raab in New York in 1907.
