The image depicts a man standing partially in the doorway of a wooden barn or shed, shown from the knees up. He is positioned beside a horse-drawn carriage with only the man clearly visible as he stands with one arm resting on the carriage. The man has a mustache and is wearing a flat cap, and his outerwear is a long dark coat. Footwear is not visible because of the snow on the ground. There appear to be no visible objects in his hands. In the background, there is deep snow covering the ground outside, while the barn's wooden double doors are wide open, revealing the carriage inside. Snow blankets a fence and some other indistinct structures nearby the barn.
