Artist, American, 1864 - 1946

This is a photograph of a building entrance with a small gabled porch. The image depicts a structured scene featuring a section of a wooden-clad building facade with horizontal planks. Dominating the middle of the composition is a small gable roof protruding from the main structure, covering an entranceway. The entrance framework includes a doorway which is only partially visible due to the shadowing effect of the roof. A grassy patch lies in the foreground, while the walls are painted in light tones that enhance the contrast in the image created by shadows.

The image shows a man leaning his head on his hand, positioned with his face resting on his left hand. He has a mustache, thin-framed eyeglasses, and thick, greying hair that curls slightly at the edges. He is dressed in a formal jacket, a white shirt, and a black bow tie. The background is a soft, dark blur.
