Based on similar inscriptions on other prints such as Key Set numbers 1097, 1112, 1114, 1116, 1117, and 1118, “G₁” and “G₂” seem to indicate O’Keeffe’s ranking of the print or image, similar to Stieglitz’s own use of “A,” “A+,” or “A+1.”
