This image depicts a portrait showing the upper half of a man's body. The man is seated and turned slightly to his right. He has a round face, with prominent eyes and a full beard. His head is covered with a flat, round hat with a wide brim. The man is wearing an elaborate coat with a high fur collar and a buttoned doublet underneath. He is holding a staff in his right hand and wears a bracelet on his right wrist. The background is a plain surface with the phrase "Mediocri Firma" to the left of the man's head. At the bottom, the image includes text with the name "Nicolaus Baconus" and additional Latin inscriptions.
