The image depicts a man from the waist up, sitting in a frontal position with his body slightly turned to his left. His hands are holding an open book. He has a rounded face with a full beard and mustache, and his hair is covered by a flat wide-brimmed hat. He is dressed in a robe with a fur or feather-trimmed collar over a garment with a pleated ruff around his neck. The background is plain with a textured pattern, typical of engraving. Below the portrait, there is an inscription with text.
