The image shows an engraving of a large sailing ship viewed from a low, rear angle. The ship's towering masts and sails dominate the scene as it rides atop the waves. Fine lines detail the water, and additional ships and a coastal landscape are visible in the distance. The sky is filled with large clouds, drawn with hatching and cross-hatching techniques. The color palette is monochrome, creating contrast between the ship and the sky and sea.
