Die Löwenjagd (The Lion Hunt)

Alfred Kubin

1922

The image shows a view through a large archway onto a cobblestone street with buildings. The point of view is slightly elevated, allowing a look down the street. The scene includes figures engaged in activities. The implied horizon is formed by the rooftops of buildings in the distance, sloping downward away from the arch. The brushwork is detailed, with fine lines depicting textures and forms. The color palette is monochromatic in shades of brownish sepia. People are shown in motion, creating a lively street scene with intricate urban details. Small figures are outlined above the scene.

The Green Bridge (Die grune Brucke)

Lyonel Feininger

1912

This is a drawing of figures interacting with nature. The drawing depicts a person on a horseback jumping across bushes, while two figures are shown in the water with their arms outstretched. The scene is in a countryside setting surrounded by foliage. The use of line work and etching technique adds depth and texture to the composition, giving the impression of movement and vitality within the scene.
