The image is an engraved portrait depicting the upper body of a man who is positioned facing slightly to the right, with his head turned to the side. The background is intricately designed with an ornate frame enclosing the portrait, featuring floral motifs and a lined pattern. At the bottom of the image, there is a text panel containing Latin inscriptions, with the name "IACOBVS I. REX. SCOTORVM," identifying him as King James I of Scotland, and additional Latin text below the portrait. The entire composition is in black and white.
