Overbury has a neatly trimmed mustache and beard, and short, curly hair. He wears a richly detailed attire with a large ruff collar and a long robe with embroidered sleeves. Objects around him include a piece of paper with writing, a quill, an ink pot, and a book. A coat of arms is to his right, and to the left is a panel with a title identifying him as "Sir Thomas Overbury Knight Ætat. 32." The background is plain.
