Artist, German, c. 1595 - 1647

The image shows an engraved portrait of a man from the waist up. He is positioned slightly turned to his left, with a high forehead, neatly trimmed beard and mustache, curly hair styled in a manner common for the early 17th century, and wearing a decorated garment, possibly a doublet, with intricate patterns and a lace ruff around his neck. He has a bracelet or cuff on his left wrist, his right hand holds a stick, and his left hand rests on his chest. The frame around the portrait contains text and a coat of arms at the top with two figures and a shield with a cross. The background has a textured shading for depth.
