Artist, German, c. 1595 - 1647

The image shows an illustration of a man. He is depicted from the waist up, facing slightly to the side but looking directly at the viewer. The man has a neatly trimmed beard and mustache, with curly hair that is combed back from his forehead. He is wearing a formal, period-appropriate outfit with a high lace collar and detailed embellishments on the front of his clothing. He is encircled by an oval border with the words "THE LIVELY PICTURE OF SIR THOMAS OVERBURY" around it. There are no visible jewelry or objects in his hands. The background of the illustration is a simple, lined texture. Beneath the portrait, a section of text in an old-style script provides a poetic verse.
