The image depicts an engraving of a male figure visible from the waist up. The person is positioned facing forward with their right hand resting on the table and the left hand holding an orb. His facial features include a long, narrow face with pronounced cheekbones and deep-set eyes, and his hair, which is shoulder-length, appears to be quite fine and is framed by a hat. He is wearing a richly adorned robe with a fur collar, ornate chains, and a mantle decorated with jeweled patterns. His hat is adorned with a brooch featuring a cross design. The background is a simple etched texture with two heraldic crests - one to the upper left and another to the upper right. The one on the left displays a coat of arms, while the one on the right features a crowned rose emblem. Below the figure, there is a decorative inscription that reads "Cor Regis inscrutabile" and "John Payne Sculpsit" at the bottom edge of the engraving.
