The image depicts a portrait engraving of a man from the waist up. He is seated and facing slightly to the right, with a forward gaze. His facial features include a sharp nose, high cheekbones, and a pointed grey beard and mustache. He wears a skullcap over closely cropped hair, a dark robe with a white ruff around the neck, and layered sleeves with visible folds. The man holds a small book in his right hand and rests his left arm along the edge of the oval frame. The border features cherubic figures at the top corners with shields, fruit and foliage motifs on the sides, and inscriptions around the oval and at the bottom, all within a detailed border.
