The image shows an engraved portrait of a man facing slightly to the right, with a head turn towards the viewer. He has a mustache and beard, with short, well-groomed hair. He is wearing ornate armor with intricate detailing and a high lace ruff collar around his neck. The man is surrounded by an oval frame with inscribed text identifying him as "AMBROSTVS SPINOLA MARCHIO VENAFRI REGIA MAIES CATHOL EXERITIVS ET ...". The background has fine engraved lines, and the lower part of the portrait contains an inscription listing the subject's titles and honors.
