The man has long, curly hair, a mustache, and a goatee. He is wearing a hat with a feather, a dark doublet with embroidery, puffed sleeves, and a white ruffled collar. He has a decorative collar or sash with a medallion hanging from his neck. He is seated on an ornate chair. Behind him, there are two angelic figures holding up a banner with the inscription "FIDEI DEFENSOR" surrounded by sun rays and drapery. Latin text is featured on banners around the scene. The room is richly decorated.
