He is wearing a high-collared garment beneath a suit of armor that covers his shoulders and chest. The background consists of an oval frame with the inscription "THOMAS. L? FAIRFAX • BARON • OF • CAMERON" as well as "Obit : 1671 Ætat. 60." The background inside the oval features a cross-hatching pattern.
