The image shows an engraving of a man facing forward with his head turned slightly to his left. He has a mustache, a beard, high cheekbones, short wavy hair combed back, and is dressed in an elaborate garment typical of the Elizabethan era with a high ruffled collar. He is holding a staff or baton in his right hand resting on a globe. The background is textured, with horizontal lines portraying books on the upper right side and a circular emblem or shield below with a zigzag pattern. The inscription at the top reads "TAM MARTI, QUAM MERCURIO," and the caption at the bottom identifies the subject as "The true Effigies of y Hon: S Walter Rawleigh Knight."
