A portrait of a man is shown within an oval frame. The man is depicted from the chest upwards, facing forward with a slight turn to the left. He has distinctive facial features, including a prominent nose and deep-set eyes, and long, curly hair flowing past his shoulders. He is wearing a dark garment with an elaborately embroidered collar. The background features symbols and a shield with a coat of arms below the portrait, as well as an inscription along the edge of the oval. The image is monochromatic with intricate lines and shading, reminiscent of an engraving.
