This is a black and white portrait etching of Dr. John Blow, depicting his upper body and head. The person is shown in a three-quarter view facing the right side of the image. He has a full, rounded face, with a slight smile, and his eyes look directly ahead. His hair is long, curly, and voluminous, cascading down past his shoulders. Dr. Blow is dressed in formal attire typical of the late 17th to early 18th century, with a visible white collared garment underneath a dark robe or cloak. There is no visible jewelry, but the design around him is ornate, resembling an embellished oval frame with intricate scrollwork and a heraldic coat of arms below. The background consists of fine lines that provide a textured backdrop within the oval frame, and outside of it, the area is less detailed, with plain paper. The name "Dr. John Blow" is inscribed below the portrait on the lower margin of the page.
