This  is an engraved portrait of a man's upper body facing forward with his head slightly turned to the right. He has a long, narrow face with prominent cheekbones, a long nose, and a thin-lipped mouth. The man's eyes are deeply set under heavy brows. His wavy hair falls just past his shoulders. He is wearing a high-collared garment with draped fabric. There are no visible jewelry or objects. The background features a textured, engraved oval border with an inscribed scroll below the oval, containing the text "JOANNES SELDENUS" followed by additional cursive script.
