This is a drawing depicting a domestic scene. A figure is inside a dimly lit room near a stove with a pot on it, appearing surprised as they look towards a voice. Another face is seen through a window from outside, animated and exclaiming something. The bold lines and high contrast of black and white give the scene a dramatic quality. The image is part of a series called "Locataires et Propriétaires" and features text saying "Le cordon donc!..." reminiscent of a conversation or an attention-seeking act. The style is similar to satirical lithographs by Honoré Daumier.
