The image features a circular engraved artwork with several figures. At the center, a seated figure wearing a robe and veil holds a naked infant on her lap. To the left, a kneeling woman with long hair and a dress clasps her hands, while to the right and left behind them, two standing figures, dressed in long robes, are depicted. One of these figures holds a slender object. The central figure and the infant are slightly gazing towards the kneeling woman. The scene is within a circular frame with a gold metal edge and a patina. There is an engraved text near the bottom of the image, and the background is plain.

Kress (1863-1955), New York; gift 27 September 1950 to the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, New York;[3] gift 1961 to NGA.
