From the artist to (Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler [1884-1979], Paris); sequestered by French government during World War I and sold by the government at (Kahnweiler sale, Hôtel Drouot, Paris, 17-18 November 1921);[1] purchased by Jacques Antoine Doucet, Paris. Marcel Coard [1889-1975], Paris; sold 7 December 1928 through (Galerie Étienne Bignou, Paris and New York) to (Alex Reid & Lefèvre, London); [2] sold through (Etienne Bignou) 29 May 1929 to Chester Dale [1883-1962], New York; bequest 1963 to NGA.
