The image depicts two pairs of individuals walking side by side. The left pair consists of a man and woman walking to the left, while the right pair consists of another man and woman walking to the right. The individuals are dressed in historical clothing, including fur hats, coats, scarves, long dresses, skirts, belts, and boots. The men are depicted with distinctive profiles, prominent noses, and strong features, while the women have their hair tied and appear slightly hunched. The men seem to be holding objects at their belts. The background is a textured ground, suggesting an outdoor setting. Text above each pair identifies them as Fabians Jänner and Mathias Hornung from the year 1546.
