Master of the Small Landscapes

Artist After, Netherlandish

The image depicts a rural scene with a point of view that looks slightly elevated. The horizon is placed in the upper third of the composition, largely obscured by the dense growth of trees that make up the landscape. The horizon line is not sharply defined due to the abundance of trees spread across the image, with branches reaching towards the sky. The brushstrokes or etching technique used here appears delicate and intricate, with fine lines that add detail to the foliage and texture to the trees and path. The color palette is monochromatic, as the print is done in black and white. Closest to us, there are trees with detailed bark and foliage, and beyond them, a dirt path winds its way towards a small house or barn, partially obscured by trees in the middle distance, with a couple of figures standing beside the path.
