Artist, French, 1817 - 1878

The image shows a view from within a forest, where numerous tall, slender trees reach towards the top of the frame. The horizon line is unclear, and the trees dominate the scene vertically. In the distance, two deer are visible, one with antlers. The image is created in an etching style with fine lines depicting a dense mesh of branches and leaves. The color palette is monochromatic, in sepia and dark brown tones. Light filters through the trees, casting shadows on the ground.
