The etching depicts a busy area with various structures and activity. Closest to the viewer are detailed engravings of wooden debris and scattered planks. Further back, there are figures and a structure suggesting a canal or body of water. Buildings rise in the background with walls and windows sketched with lines to show texture. The etching features dense cross-hatching for a textured effect in shades of brown and sepia.
