Artist, Scottish, 1876 - 1953

The image shows a bird's eye view of a grand setting with two statues facing each other on sturdy pedestals. The statues frame the view with the horizon low, allowing a vast sky above. In the distance are classical buildings and an obelisk-like landmark. Delicate, linear brushstrokes are used with a sketch-like quality and muted tones in a soft sepia palette. Lush foliage is present on the right side, adding depth to the scene.
