Associated Names

Artist, American, 1871 - 1951

The pencil sketch shows a view from eye level looking at a tall building on the right side of the image. The horizon is located low in the image, just above several vague figures that might represent buildings or other structures. Along the horizon, sketched lines suggest structures or a cityscape edge. The drawing features light and quick pencil strokes, with loose, swirling lines for clouds and sky. The color palette is monochromatic, using various shades of grey on buff-colored paper. Cloud-like scribbles in the background indicate the artist's quick capture of the scene's layout and mood.
