This is a drawing of an allegorical scene intertwined with calligraphic text. The image displays two skeletons, each cloaked and posed behind two different figures on either side of the text block. On the left, a skeleton embraces a nude man holding a spear. On the right, a skeleton stands behind a woman in elegant attire holding what appears to be a fan or a feather. Above, an arch of twisted, leafless tree branches frames the top of the scene. The central text is in gothic script with elaborate flourishes, surrounded by the scenes.
