The image shows a portrait of a man from the mid-torso up. He is seated, positioned slightly towards the right but gazing directly at the viewer. The man has long, curly hair that flows down past his shoulders and a mustache. His facial features include a broad forehead, pronounced nose, and full lips, with a serious expression on his face. He is wearing a dark garment with a wide, white, pointed collar. In his hand is a rolled piece of paper held in the foreground. The background is a textured, patterned surface. Above his left shoulder, there are initials or a partial name "J. Vondel", and below the image is a block of text written in a neat script.
