This is a drawing of a sundial design. The artwork features an abstract representation of a sundial with stylized rays emanating from a semi-circular sun at the top. The time markings are displayed in Roman numerals along both sides of the piece, while the tip of the triangular shadow or gnomon is precisely directed towards the numeral XII. The drawing is framed with a decorative bordering that includes various astrological symbols in each corner and midway on each side. Below the sundial, there is text in Dutch that translates to a poetic description of the inevitability of time passing and the steadfast nature of the sundial.
