The image shows a waterway with two dogs interacting with a floating carcass. Small boats are on the river, and a village with red-roofed structures and church steeples is seen in the distance. The horizon is at the upper third of the picture, with a pale sky. The painting is detailed with a soft color palette of earth tones for the land and blues and greys for the water and sky.
