Provenance

(Pace Gallery, New York); purchased December 1966 by Burton G. [1902-1991] and Emily Hall [1908-1987] Tremaine, Madison, Connecticut;[1] gift 1977 to NGA.
[1] A copy of the Pace Gallery's invoice, dated 21 December 1966, is in the Emily Hall Tremaine Papers, Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. The invoice was kindly brought to the Gallery's attention by Marianne Stockebrand, editor of the Robert Irwin Catalogue Raisonné; e-mail of 24 September 2018, in NGA curatorial files.
