Three soldiers are depicted in the image. They stand in a row facing to the right, holding rifles upright with both hands. The front soldier's face is visible in profile. The soldiers have exaggerated facial features, including prominent noses and mustaches. They wear uniform hats, jackets, pants, and boots, and carry round backpacks. The background shows a flat, minimally detailed landscape, possibly near water, with shadows cast on the ground where the soldiers stand.
