This is a drawing of an allegorical scene between two figures. One figure on the left symbolizes France, holding a shield that bears the name "FRANCE," and standing resolutely. The other figure on the right is depicted as an elderly, hunched-over figure with a tattered appearance, labeled "ARBITRE," pushing a chair labeled "MONARCHIE" towards the central space between them. The chair has a worn cushion. The drawing features intricate line work accentuating the expressions and demeanor of the figures.
