The image shows two women depicted from the waist up. The woman on the left wears a dark dress with light, patterned sections at the cuffs and frills around her shoulders. She holds a handkerchief in one hand and her other hand rests near her chin. Her head is covered with a bonnet and a large ribbon or flower is attached to the side of the bonnet. The woman on the right has her hair neatly styled back and wears a simple dress with a fitted bodice and long sleeves. She has her hands clasped together near her chest, with wide eyes and slightly parted lips. The background shows a textured, patterned wall implying an indoor setting, with part of a sculpted piece of furniture visible on the right.
