This is a drawing of a sundial on top of a classical column. The artwork features a sundial set atop an ornately carved column composed of vertical lines. The ground surrounding the column is a checkered pattern of intersecting lines. Delicate flowers with simple petal shapes and leaves border two sides of the pavement. The use of hatching and cross-hatching techniques generates contrasts and shadows, imbuing the drawing with a three-dimensional quality. At the top and bottom, there are inscriptions in capital letters created with an angular and structured typeface. The entire composition conveys a sense of precision and attention to geometric designs.
