The image shows an etching of a man shown from the chest up. He is posed facing slightly towards the viewer’s left, with his head turned to look directly at the viewer. The man's facial expression is neutral with a hint of a smile. He has a mustache and small patch of a beard on his chin. His hair is curly and voluminous, with curls framing the sides of his face, resting just above his shoulders. He is wearing a dark, formal garment which includes a wide, white collar that extends outward; tied at the front with a thin ribbon. Around him, there is a decorative, octagonal frame with an inscription engraved on it. The background of the image is plain and subtly lined, providing a simple contrast to the intricately detailed portrait.
