Artist, English, 1622 - 1704

The image shows a pastoral scene viewed from a slightly elevated angle. The horizon is in the upper third of the image, with a cluster of buildings on the right. The drawing is done in a soft style with fine graphite strokes and gray washes. In the foreground, a woman is milking a cow, while other cows are resting nearby. A man tends to the animals further away, with more cows grazing in the field. Lush trees frame the scene on the left. The color palette consists of muted grays and light browns.
