Artist, Dutch, 1898 - 1972

The image shows a mountainous landscape. The horizon is situated about one-third from the top, with a range of mountains extending across the scene. In the center, a peak rises prominently in the distance. To the right, there is a steep rock face that leads the eye upwards from the lower right corner. A village is nestled into the hillsides beyond the rock formation, with structures closely clustered together. The brushstrokes are meticulous, with detailed lines and shading conveying depth and texture. The overall color palette is monochromatic, with shades of gray and black dominating the scene against a muted background. The interplay of light and shadow across the landscape creates a timeless quality.
