Artist, American, born Russia (now Latvia), 1903 - 1970

This painting features four horizontal bands of color. The top band is deep blue, and the middle band is pale yellow, and these are a similar size. Below the yellow rectangle is another stripe of the deep blue color, although this is about half the size of the two others. The bottom layer is a rectangle of even darker blue, and it is roughly the size of the middle two rectangles combined. The lines between the sections are blurred, and the paint has been applied with visible, uneven strokes, creating some variation in color within each section. These rectangles are bordered by a thin line of off-white paper, which has some spots of blue and yellow paint on it.
