Artist, American, born Russia (now Latvia), 1903 - 1970

This painting is dominated by three black, rectangular forms stacked on top of one another. The center is dominated by a large black square, while the rectangle on the top is a thin horizontal line, and the rectangle in the bottom is about twice as tall as the one on the top. Between and around these rectangles are thin, uneven lines of bright purple. The brushstrokes are visible in both the black and purple paint, creating slight variations in the colors.
