Artist, American, born Russia (now Latvia), 1903 - 1970

The image is a composition of lines and shapes depicting an abstract arrangement. Curved and angular lines connect to form abstract shapes that resemble parts of the human form. Rectangular shapes intersect with the limbs, and a face appears in profile. The abstract composition may remind viewers of a cubist representation of a reclining figure, where familiar objects appear dissected and rearranged into a complex puzzle-like integration, with certain parts like toes and fingers vividly outlined amongst the shapes.
