Artist, French, 1869 - 1954

The image shows a charcoal drawing of a person's head and shoulders. The head is slightly tilted to the left, with almond-shaped eyes, full lips, a narrow nose, and accentuated eyebrows. The hair is styled with a prominent wave or curl. There is a suggestion of an earring near the ear and minimal indications of clothing on the shoulders. Additionally, there is a sketch of lips on the left side. The background is plain, emphasizing the facial features. In the bottom right corner, the signature "H. Matisse 39" is scribbled, indicating the artist and year.
