Auguste Renoir

Artist, French, 1841 - 1919

The image depicts a sketch of two figures seen from the back. Both figures are shown from the waist up sitting side by side, slightly turned, facing away from the viewer. The two individuals have long, flowing hair and are wearing hats — the figure on the left has a broad-brimmed hat while the one on the right wears a hat adorned with a decorative feature. The clothing of both figures seems to be loose-fitting with draped sleeves and full skirts, drawn with flowing lines. There are no visible facial features due to their orientation. The sketch is on a simple brown paper background with no additional elements or scenery around them.
